Soho Beach House

by Breeze Giannasio in ,

I have an unexpected business trip down to Miami this Wednesday and have the pleassure of staying at the Soho Beach House.  It's a fantastic concept - Soho  House was founded in London as a private members’ club for those in film, media and creative industries. Happily they've expanded to Miami, among other places.  Haven't been since a few Art Basel's ago and eager to be back.   As nice as being there may be, I'm much more excited for the business opportunity of course.  More to come in due time!

Jean Louis Deniot

Paris-based designer Jean Louis Deniot can do no wrong.   His choices may be eclectic but always refined.  He often cites the designs of Adolph Loos for "exactness", Dorothy Draper for "the theatrical side to design", Renzo Mongiardino for his "collector's spirit", and Peter Marino for "couture-style luxury".  How awesome is that?  Here are a few emblematic interiors.

Screens

by Breeze Giannasio in

I've been thinking a lot about screens this week.

Selectively hiding and revealing the innards of a structure, interior or exterior, a screened facade or a series of slats has the power to shroud a building in an air of mystery.  The real mystery, however, is why people don't use them more often.

Here are some beauties.

Reflections on Swedish Interiors

A well-designed Swedish room, whether an antique-filled country home or a contemporary industrial loft space, has a calm and feel-good quality that literally permeates the atmosphere.   Check out this fantastic book that beautifully showcases these Swedish fundamentals-those of functionality, quality of materials, light, preservation, art, eclecticism, color, sense of place and a deep reverence for nature.  Reflections on Swedish Interiors -- available on Amazon and full of beauty and inspiration!

Fashion Forward Gray

Heading to NY tomorrow for work and play.  As you know it's fashion week and wouldn't you know that one of the fall runway trends is... gray!  My fav. Below you'll see fashion designer Monique Lhuillier's Beverly Hills living room, decorated in shades of subtle, silvery gray. I approve. Lots of pieces from Ironies and Oly as well - both favorite go tos.

Here are several more favorite gray interiors to enjoy and inspire...

At the Beach

by Breeze Giannasio in

Now we transition from the woods to the beach.  Can you tell my mind is gravitating towards vacation?  Anyhow, I could happily spend the next few years focusing on beach homes -- it's a palette and lifestyle that is so natural and intuitive to me.   And there's often the opportunity to employ sense of play that just seems unaccessible in a Gotham urban landscape.  Dream beautiful dreams of your beautiful beach home, all.

All about the Floors

by Breeze Giannasio in

The rest of Supermachine Studio's BU Lounge in Thailand is a little wackadoodle, but in this relatively paired down area (by contrast), I'm simply in love with the floors! Brings to mind a project I did back in grad school. Now let's make it happen on a project here in DC!
